She steeled herself. She could no longer hear her companion’s footsteps, but she hoped he was near. So far she hadn’t encountered any living beings on this new planet. It was so dark that her flashlight didn’t help at all. She felt her heart beat faster, but she determined that fear would not rule her.
She then felt a hand grip her wrist. She breathed out a sigh of relief, glad her partner found her. When she turned to face him, he wasn’t there. Only his hand, nothing else. She let out a blood-curdling scream.
Fear, after all, ruled her.
